In our group, we investigate catalytic materials, in particular the dependence of reactivity and selectivity on structure. We use a variety of spectroscopic techniques, most importantly operando X-ray absorption spectroscopy, and combine the results thereof with high-accuracy kinetic data to understand the intrinsic drivers of catalytic turnover. Our goal is to develop new catalysts and processes for sustainable chemistry and pollution abatement applications, from biofuels to plastic upcycling and automotive emissions control.
