Angelo Gomez joined Oregon State University in 1996. As Interim Executive Director, Angelo is responsible for managing all aspects of the University’s Equity and Inclusion Plan and ensuring the effectiveness of equity and inclusion programs. Angelo is also responsible for coordinating the University’s obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Additionally he is involved in investigating and seeking resolution in both formal and informal complaints of discrimination and in developing, updating and advising units about nondiscrimination and affirmative action policy. Angelo has also been involved in developing and conducting University-wide educational programs on topics ranging from addressing sexual harassment and understanding the Americans with Disabilities Act to recognizing and mitigating the impact of unconscious bias in the search and selection process.
Before coming to OSU, Angelo worked as a private attorney in the Portland area. In his practice he focused on civil rights, injuries and representing persons with disabilities.
Since coming to OSU, Angelo has served as Affiliated Faculty in the Ethnic Studies Department teaching courses on Race and Civil Rights, and Theories of Race and Ethnicity. He has also served on the Advisory Committee for Centro Cultural Cesar Chavez, the University’s Faculty Senate, as well as the Executive Committee of the Faculty Senate.
Angelo received a B.A. from the University of Colorado and his J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law.
