Allison DuRoss

I am currently in the last year of my PhD (year 5) in pharmaceutical sciences in Dr. Conroy Sun's lab. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor in 2014. In 2015, I started in Dr. Sun's lab as a graduate student and quickly became engrossed in drug delivery research. Particularly, I became fascinated regarding the intersection between radiation therapy and nanomedicine. I believe that many advances to radiation therapy have arisen due to improvements in the physics of dose-delivery, but that the future of advancing radiation therapy will come from intelligently integrating nanomedicine into clinical radiotherapy regimens. Particularly, I think a better understanding of how radiation influences both passive and active nanoparticle accumulation is extremely important. Furthermore, I think there exist many unexplored avenues to expand the therapeutic window of radiation that involve nanomaterials.
