Munirpallam (mas) Subramanian

Subramanian group research efforts focus on designing new inorganic solid state functional materials for emerging applications in electronics, solid-state energy conversion and storage, superconductivity, magnetic materials, catalysis, durable high performance color pigments, and efficient environmentally benign chemical synthesis/processes including rapid synthesis of high-temperature materials using microwave radiation.  We are particularly inspired by the challenges involved in developing design concepts for functional materials with conflicting or contradicting property requirements as seen in thermoelectrics, multiferroics, temperature independent high K dielectrics and materials exhibiting negative thermal expansion. The team has a track record of making important and exciting breakthrough scientific discoveries in functional materials chemistry area.  Discoveries have been given prominent coverage throughout the world in leading newspapers and magazines – including The New York Times, National Geographic Magazine, C&EN news, La Monde, Geo (Germany), Chemistry Word (UK), and The Hindu.
